ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Early Years and first stage of Primary (1 to 6 years old)
- Family interview and observation: We will conduct an interview with the family, meet the child, and arrange a taster day to determine if our school is the best fit for the child.
- Previous reports: Reports or comments from previous nurseries or schools may be required.
Second stage of Primary (7 years old and above)
- Entrance tests: Students will complete assessments in English, Mathematics, and other cognitive skills to evaluate their readiness for the curriculum. For non-Spanish speakers, entrance tests in Spanish may also be conducted. The CAT-4 test will be used as a cognitive tool. CAT4 assesses key skills that influence learning and performance, such as verbal, non-verbal, quantitative, and spatial reasoning, providing a detailed analysis of the student’s potential achievement. This test will incur a cost, which will be confirmed in advance by the admissions team.
- Interview: An informal interview with the Heads of Stage or Head of Admissions will allow us to assess the student’s speaking, listening, and understanding skills. This also helps us plan for a smooth transition.
KS4 (GCSE) and IB diploma admissions (Year 10 to Year 13)
- Assessment: In addition to the entrance tests. The Head of Studies and team will evaluate the viability of admission based on school reports and the student’s current educational system.
- Programme-specific protocols: Enrollment in Year 11 or Year 13 is subject to approval by management due to the two-year nature of these programmes. Admission to the IB Diploma Programme (Year 12-13) follows a specific protocol, available upon request.
Reports and supporting documentation
- For Year 1 and above, information from previous schools is required, including recent school reports, references, and exercise books where applicable.
- Taster days allow students to experience the school environment before final enrollment. A permission form will need to be completed by the family.
Language support
- Children with limited English or Spanish may be admitted if sufficient resources are available to provide support classes and if the child demonstrates the ability to cope with the academic programme.
- Parents may be required to arrange private tuition if support resources are limited.
- For students with very limited English, places in the Elian’s Language Immersion Programme (ELIS) may be available. This programme incurs additional costs.
Admission of Non-European Students Requiring a Visa
To account for the potential risks associated with visa applications, the enrollment fee for non-European students will be higher than the standard fee. This additional amount will be compensated at the end of the first academic year. The Admissions Team will provide full details during the process.
Confirmation of place
After the admissions process, the Head of Admissions will confirm whether the prospective student has been accepted.
Securing a place
A place is secured once admission has been granted, the registration fee paid, and the completed enrollment form signed and accepted.
Waiting lists
If a class reaches its maximum capacity, a waiting list will be established.
Induction of students starting mid-year
- Early Years and Primary: A tailored adaptation period is provided.
- Secondary and Sixth Form: A dedicated induction plan is in place to support older students joining mid-year.
Equality and non-discrimination
We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive community. Our admissions process is open to all applicants regardless of race, gender, religion, nationality, or disability. Every child will be given the opportunity to thrive in an environment that respects and celebrates individuality.
Right of refusal of admission
The school reserves the right to refuse admission if it is determined that we cannot meet the educational or pastoral needs of the student. This decision will be made transparently, considering the best interests of both the prospective student and the existing school community.
Honest disclosure
We require full and honest disclosure from parents regarding their child’s educational, physical, and emotional needs during the admissions process. This information is essential to ensure that the school can provide appropriate support and a positive learning experience. Failure to disclose relevant information may result in the withdrawal of an offer of admission.
