Back to school at Elian’s
Enthusiasm, curiosity and an eagerness to learn is what our students are bringing into the new school year of 2025/26 school year. We couldn’t be prouder of them and their fantastic versatility; some returning to a familiar routine and others beginning a brand new one. We’re also delighted by the early success of several new initiatives we’ve introduced this term to further enhance the educational quality and learning experience of our students.
Whether you’re already part of our school, or you’re considering joining us, find out more about the beginning of the school year, what’s new, and how we work at Elian’s.
We’re thrilled by the enthusiasm of our Early Years and Primary students
Despite the usual nerves during the first few days — especially when it’s the very start of a child’s school life — our youngest learners have once again shown their adaptability and a positive attitude towards the start of school. What’s more, we’re greeting them with a host of new features this year:
New features of the 2025/26 school year for Early Years and Primary
- Read Write Inc.: a phonics programme that helps our students build a solid foundation for reading. We’re already seeing how valuable it is for those learning English as a second language, because it improves their fluency and confidence in both speaking and writing. The programme is available for Reception students aged 4 and 5.
- Reconstruction of the school garden : we want to bring our garden back to life with new activities to help our students (including those in Secondary) learn outdoors.
- Breakfasts at Elian’s: this is a new initiative for our families so we can strengthen our relationship with them. It’s a space to share ideas and answer questions with the aim of building a stronger school community.
- New Pre 2-3 class: due to the high demand in Early Years, we’re opening a second class for our 2-3 year-old students. This way, from Day One, more children will be able to develop their English in a comfortable environment where they can enjoy learning through play and exploration.
Why start education at Elian’s from the earliest stages?
If you want your children to have a British education from the very first day, Elian’s is the place you need in Alicante. As well as developing a mastery of English, the education we offer focuses on personal, social, emotional, physical and communication development from a very young age. Children are immersed in a 100% English environment, with plenty of opportunity to learn in a playful way (songs, games and stories) — and there’s also space for the development of their Spanish, so the children will be fully prepared for a bilingual setting.
Our priority is that the youngest children feel safe, motivated and eager to explore. Our teaching team is trained in Early Childhood Education and has extensive experience. Another of our priorities is keeping class sizes small in order to provide individual attention.
Places are limited and demand is high, so we encourage you to contact us as soon as possible to receive all the information you need or to arrange a visit to see the school. We’d love to meet you!
Are you starting at Elian’s British School of La Nucía this 25/26 school year? We aim for a smooth transition!
At Elian’s, we believe a student’s first days and weeks in a new school are crucial (whether they’re starting in Early Years or joining later on). During this first stage we take care to ensure
For example, the Admissions team coordinates with teachers to provide all the necessary information about each student. For younger children, this allows for schedules and routines to be adjusted, and for older students to be assigned a buddy and other areas of support.
We also firmly believe a close relationship with families is key to ensuring a good transition for students, so we provide them with the information and guidance they need at every stage of the school cycle.
Coordination between internal teams, support for students and families, and our close approach are the keys that allow us to offer a safe, happy and successful school life, regardless of when the student joins Elian’s.
The secondary stage: positive changes everywhere you look!
For the new 2025/26 school year we wanted to make sure students have everything possible to support their studies and well being by incorporating new initiatives designed to improve their learning experience. The changes have been well received, and although it’s early days, it promises to be a fantastic year ahead.
- Fortnightly timetable: we have introduced this new schedule which divides the month into “Week A” and “Week B”. This means that instead of repeating the timetable every week, it repeats every two weeks. So, the first week follows “Calendar A”, the second week “Calendar B” and then it starts again.
We believe this way students have a more varied routine and don’t feel that the days are so monotonous week after week, boosting their motivation. It also avoids “very heavy days” and “very light days”, distributing the workload more evenly.
- Immersion programme (Year 7 and 8): in order to access our Secondary courses, it is essential to have a minimum level of English. However, we wanted to support those students who wish to join but still need to polish their language skills. This is a small-group programme that helps students get used to a British school environment and provides strong English support from day one.
- Daily “Tutor time”: every morning, students start the day with their tutor. This practice gives them a stable point of reference and a space to organise the day, ask questions and talk about what they need in order to start more calmly.
- New, longer break times so students can recharge their energy.
- More time for the wellbeing support team to be present and help students.
- Expansion of the Secondary building with new classrooms and study spaces.
Although the school year has only just begun, we’re confident it’ll be a year to remember. Are you already part of our school? Discover all the extracurricular activities available for the 2025/26 school year and choose your favourites!
