Elian’s British School of La Nucía is a school where motivation and individualised learning are the foundation of our methodology. We recognise that each student is unique, and we strive to ensure their education is meaningful to them by connecting each subject to their lives and aspirations.
This approach is reflected across all educational stages and in initiatives such as the Elian’s Elite Sports Programme, designed for students who compete at a high level in sports. With flexible schedules and a balanced commitment between studies and sport, we guarantee that each student can develop their talent without neglecting their academic education.
At Elian’s, we believe education is a personal journey in which every student finds their own motivation to progress, whether in the classroom or on the field.
The program ensures that all enrolled students follow an academic schedule that includes the core subjects necessary for their progress. These subjects cannot be eliminated or replaced by athletic commitments. In addition, the school reserves the right to evaluate a student’s suitability for the program at any time and, should their academic performance suffer, they may be excluded.
Program Objectives
The Elian’s Elite Sports Programme aims to provide an environment where students can thrive both academically and athletically. Its main objectives include:
- Offering personalised timetables that allow students to balance their studies and sporting commitments.
- Ensuring students maintain a high academic performance.
- Promoting students’ well-being through an appropriate balance between training, competitions, and study.
- Encouraging essential skills such as discipline, time management, and responsibility.
- Ensuring that students remain committed to their education without sacrificing academic progress.
Eligibility Criteria and Application Process
To be eligible for the programme, students must compete in a sport at a regional, national, or international level. Additionally, they must maintain an outstanding academic performance, ensuring that their dedication to sport does not negatively impact their schoolwork. They must also demonstrate strong commitment to both their academic and sporting responsibilities, showing discipline and organisational skills.
The application process includes:
- Initial application: Submission of an email application to the Admissions Director, detailing the student’s sporting achievements and providing evidence of their competitive level.
- School review: Assessment of the student’s academic record and sporting commitments.
- Consultation with coaches: If the student is affiliated with an academy, the school will coordinate with the institution to organise a compatible schedule.
- Optional interview: A meeting with the student and their family to discuss expectations and requirements.
- Final decision: A comprehensive evaluation to determine if the student is suitable for the programme.
- Agreement signing: If accepted, the family must sign a formal commitment to the programme.

Academic Requirements and Personalised Timetables
Academic performance is a key factor within the Elian’s Elite Sports Programme. To remain in the programme, students must meet the school’s academic requirements and maintain a high level of achievement. They must attend classes and fulfil all their academic responsibilities, demonstrating discipline and commitment to their education. Regular assessments will be conducted to ensure students continue progressing and managing their studies alongside their sporting activities.
Personalised timetables can be arranged in two ways:
- Agreement with the sports academy: For students affiliated with accredited academies, the school cooperates with these institutions to adapt their schedules.
- Direct agreement with the family: For those who train independently, a flexible schedule is designed in cooperation with their parents.
Academic Support and Monitoring
To ensure students keep up with their studies, Elian’s provides:
- Individual tutoring when necessary.
- Study periods to catch up on missed classes or assignments.
- Regular meetings with academic advisors to monitor progress.
Additionally, each student will have a mentor who will oversee their development, provide support, and conduct regular reviews to ensure they maintain a balanced commitment.
Supervision, Evaluation, and Exit Strategy
The programme includes quarterly reviews to assess each student’s academic and sporting performance. If academic performance declines, the student may be placed on probation or, if necessary, temporarily or permanently excluded from the programme to focus on improving their studies.
To ensure effective management, continuous communication is maintained between students, families, coaches, and teachers. Any changes in sporting schedules or academic performance must be reported immediately to the programme coordinator.
Finally, if a student decides to withdraw from the programme or their sporting commitments change, they may do so following a formal process. In cases of poor academic performance, the school may determine the student’s exclusion from the programme to allow them to focus on improving their grades.
The Elian’s Elite Sports Programme represents an excellent opportunity for students who aspire to excel in sports, while maintaining strong academic performance. Its structure ensures that young athletes can achieve their goals in both areas, with the necessary support and supervision to succeed in all aspects of their development.
