Working with SchoolNurses, at Elian’s British School of La Nucía, we provide all our students with a comprehensive school nursing service throughout the school day. This covers all emergencies and daily medical needs that students might have. From administering treatments to looking after chronic or acute illnesses, our nursing team is always there for our students for any health requirement.
So that you, our families, can see the excellent work carried out by the nursing team, we are sharing the key findings from our Annual Report for the 2024-25 academic year. This report collects and analyses the medical actions and interventions that took place during that period. At Elian’s, we are proud to offer such a fundamental service for the safety and well-being of your children.
A Summary of Nursing Professionals’ Work at Elian’s During the 2024-25 Academic Year
During the 2024-25 academic year, 78% of our students used the school nursing service, which amounts to a total of 563 boys and girls attended. Our healthcare professionals independently managed the majority of cases, with only 11 instances (0.16%) requiring referral to a hospital.
The interventions carried out by the school nursing service totalled 6,720 during the 2024-25 period, with parents only needing to be contacted on 12 occasions (0.18%).
These interventions were primarily for students in Primary school, followed by those in Early Years. The age groups least in need of the school nursing service were those in Sixth Form, followed by Secondary school.
The majority of visits to the nurse and subsequent interventions were for first aid or administering treatments. The second most common reason for medical assistance was an accident occurring during school hours, followed by a pupil falling ill during the school day.

Health Education (EPS): A Cornerstone of Our School Nursing Service
In addition to providing healthcare, the Elian’s nursing team also organised educational workshops for students during the 2024-25 academic year. Talks were delivered on topics including dental hygiene, handwashing, first aid, healthy eating and sexuality. All these sessions were adapted to the students’ age and implemented according to their level of maturity. We believe these types of talks are highly beneficial in making students aware of the importance of health and empowering them to look after themselves autonomously and responsibly.
Furthermore, our school nurse conducted a first aid workshop for parents to equip them with the tools and knowledge to act in emergency situations.
